January 18, 2010: Happy Birthday EH; 21 years of age !
July 17, 2009 : The Antenna was raised by about 9 ft (3M), back to its former working height.
This seems to have restored 'EH to its former coverage footprint. (Do you concur?)
Test measurments are currently in hand towards a formal confirmation of this.
GB3EH: QRM; May 2009;
The engineering team had become aware of day-time interference on the Input,
causing a one-second beep at the Output, interleaved with a false over-pip on alternate seconds.
The source was eventually traced to a radio-augmented GPS guidance system for farm tractors !
(Such "hi-tech" tractors can be programmed to plough exact furrows or spray fertiliser in specific zones, etc, etc. LINK)
In this case, the radio guidance sub-system was set to exactly 434.8 MHz; the Input to 'EH !
The equipment had been imported and somehow missed the usual QSY adjustment to a non-critical UK channel.
But the operating farmers have agreed to seek this adjustment before using the facility any further.
Our thanks go to Steve, G6MMD for deploying his DF skills so diligently!

GB3EH - Disruption in Service - 2007 |
|
| MAY : |
GB3EH went off the air abruptly when the barn in which it
was installed suffered fire damage. This subsequently lead to a major maintenance activity which required the entire housing and aerial to be dismantled. (Thankfully, the GB3EH equipment was not the cause of the fire and it suffered no lasting damage except for generous deposits of soot! ) |
| JULY : | Substantial repairs to the barn, especially to its roof structures and upper side-walls, were completed so that steps could then be taken to re-design the installation of the GB3EH hardware. |
| OCTOBER : | As the culmination of several contributor's efforts over several months, a new installation was launched and made fully operational on 7/9/7. The antenna is but a few feet (both vertically and horizontally) from its former position and all other specifications, e.g. power-output, Logic operation, are exactly as the previously approved operating specification. |

Our Perpetual Plea ! We would urge all Users, regular or casual, to please note that the annual Site and Insurance charges have had to be paid again (January 2010) so our funds are low again as a result. As ever,
